Quick Write Photo

We wrote a quick write about a photo of
a person who was diving off a wharf in Auckland.
This photo won the Auckland competition.
We used this photo because it has a mix of different things and we would get lots of ideas

The waves lap against the rocking jetty. There are boats, buoys, and the water taxi is speeding across to the North Shore. As a storm is brewing, I am bracing for the jump.

My heart, pounding as I leap into the air. I feel free as if I can fly. I feel the sea spray shooting at my face.
I soar, fly, sail.

Everybody is watching, waiting for a splash. Then I plummet. I feel the waves rock me up and down and I see my pants floating. Luckily they were facing out to sea not at the  wharf. As quick as a flash I pull them back on and climb on the wharf.

foul shot

Foul Shot

This is a blog post about my story. We based it off the story foul shot which was in a basketball match with 5 seconds left. We used things like verbs, 2 stanzas one about you and one about the equipment and we had a new action every line.

Foul Shot

With only 10 seconds left of the game,
And a solemn boy dribbling the ball,
Running,
Dribbling,
Comes into the D
Comes up to take a shot,

Breathes,
Crouches,
Lines his shoulders up,
Then smash!
The ball soars,
Flies,
Sails,
Floats like it’s in slow mo,
Plays it coy,
The crowd is silent,
And then
                            and then
                                                        and then,
It ricochets the goalie ……

And GOAL!

He runs and high- fives everybody.

The Unknown Soldier

This is my story to the unknown soldier. We had to add short sentences and have a good opener sentence. The unknown soldier is a dead person who is in a tomb in Wellington.

Dear Unknown soldier,
I am writing to you because I want you to know that we remembered you on 25th  of April at the Havelock North Cenotaph. I thank you for serving for the ANZACS. Right now I am unlike you were 100 years ago. I am safe, free, happy and chatting to my friends in my warm classroom.

How did you feel when you went to war? We had heard how you thought you were going on an adventure but ended up in this hot, dry Egypt then to Gallipoli to your death .

Were the uniforms really heavy? We heard about having 30 kilos on your back and your gun. You must have been very sweaty!

What went through your mind when you shot someone? Did you feel powerful or did you cry in dismay?

Thank you for reading this message you will never be forgotten.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
